1968 mercury TWO OR FOUR STROKE?

I have a1968 merc 1000 kiekhaefer ser# 2411152.

Is this a two or four stroke motor?

If it is two stroke do you have to premix the fuel or is it oil pumped?

sorry for the nievness I've always had inboard pentas.

No four-stroke Mercs back then so it's a two-stroke. All you need to do is start it to tell. Two strokes of that era needed a fuel/oil mix. If it were oil injected, you would find a container into which two-stroke oil would be added. None of those on your engine either. Use TCW3 outboard oil. You can buy CITGO, WalMart, or any of the discount brands for $7.95 to $10.95 a gallon or you can buy Merc oil for $20 a gallon. It's all TCW3.
