1969 1.5/2 hp british seagull

has any one done the conversion from 10:1 mix to 25:1 mix? is there any easy way to tell if my newly aquired motor has been converted? (im barrel running it at 16:1 and it smokes like a houseafire, drips black oil so bad it makes my mid fiftys johnsons look clean!) any help would be appreciated.

conversion depend on what type of bearings the crankshaft has as the oil seals the bearing ...16 :1 is as far as you can go BUT you should go to www.saving-old-seagulls.co.uk for the full story if you use TCW3 its biodegradable ......
