hello. i have a 1969 evinrude 1.5hp that i am trying to make work. motor had no spark when i got it.

i ordered a new coil, plug, plug wire, condensor, and new points from ishopmarine.com

installed each new peice, cleaned each grounding point real good, and still no spark. is something grounded when it shouldnt be, is there someplace i should look for that SHOULD be grounded?

motor has no kill switch, you have to choke it to kill it.

HERE IS A PIC OF THE ENTIRE IGNITION....ANY IDEAS
Looks 100% to me. Is the point set to open .020" max? If you used Sierra 18-5181 coil then often you have to sort of thread in the spark plug wire a bit. But that looks like the OEM coil.
Is the point cam on upside-down perhaps?

Are you sure it dont have a kill switch? Is the coil spaced correct distance from magnet?

Did you check the coil "spike" before you pushed the spark plug wire in? Sometimes they are bent and will go off center in the wire if not straightened out first. Might also have gotten a bad set of points.

#1 its a oem coil. not wuer what you mean about points cam, but ill check it out

#2 the coil is very close to the magnet, i do admit, and it almost wants to scrape it when the flywheel spins.i had to push it back and screw it down tightly.

#3. the spike is good, it doesnt therad into it, i tied that. i just shove it in nice and straight till it stops.

MIke... I'm sure you know the cam is the off round component that opens the points. Having the flywheel key aligned with the fiber rubbing portion of the points, set the points so that a .020 gauge goes thru but a .022 will not.

The spark plug wire to coil connection can be checked with one ohm meter lead connected to the spark plug connector and the other lead connected to the primary or ground coil lead.

Route the condenser wire so that it clears the flywheel..... looks to me like it's sticking straight up which will most likely hit the flywheel.

Look at the seat area where the coil sits upon the armature plate. You'll see a slight bevel there. The vertical portion of the metal yoke of the coil must align with the top inner portion of that bevel to obtain the proper clearance from the flywheel magnets.
