Hi all,

Just wondering how to wire up the trim/tilt for a 1969 Johnson 115HP. I have three wires coming from it BLACK, BLUE, GREEN. I also have the OMC switch with 3 connectors at the back and I think someone gave me a solenoid or something and said I would need it.

From what I have read in the archives someone said BLACK = Common Ground, Blue = Tilt Up and Green = tilt down.

Would love it if you could confirm this and also just describe how you wire in the rest of it ?

Cheers

Re: 1969 115HP Power Trim/Tilt Wiring Question

The 1969 motors did not have tilt/trim units, only an optional tilt system. Originally the motor wires and the trim wires were connected without any relays involved. Blue for up and green for down.

The first power trim units came out in 1973,

So if they did not use solenoids, did they just use a really beefy swicth to switch the power to the tilt unit. ?
