I have 1969 55 hp hydroelectric shift. I am thinking I might need new seals possibly. I drained some of the oil and it was the color of honey. I also found some oil which is black on the propellor. Well I think it is oil I may be wrong. If i need to repair the seals could some point me in the right direction.

If the oil is clear it is OK but if it is cloudy or milky looking then there is water in it and the unit needs resealing.

The black oil on the propeller is just partly burnt oil from the fuel.

If there is water in the oil then you will be able to ID all the seals and gaskets required from the parts diagrams for your engine at http://shop2.evinrude.com/ext/index.aspx?s1=bf6ad09c53cead335fcfd8a6471c0f7f I don't think there is a complete kit.

It would be sensible to renew the pump impeller at the same time (There is a kit for doing that)

A workshop manual would advisable.

BTW I think I am right in saying this unit uses "Type C " oil not the usual gear oil.
