I have a 1969 55hp that I have been having trouble getting it to take the gas between idle and wot. I rebuilt the carbs and that did no good so I bought a spark testor and found I had a weak spark on #2 and #3 so I replaced the coil and that did not solve the problem so I replaced the stator and distributor cap and that did not fix the problem. Today I removed the cd amplifier and coil and replaced them with a coil from a 1968 mustang and condensor. Rechecked the spark and now I am getting a spark of about 1/2 inch on all three cylinders. I put on the muffs and cranked her up and she ran great at the house so I plan on putting her in the lake the last of this week and will report back how she did. The engine has a completely different sound to it now and idles very smooth. Hope this helps some people out who have simular problems.
