1969 85hp evinrude starflite v4

my 69 85hp evinrude still wont start i dont think<br />that i'm getting spark at the plugs. yesterday i <br />tried turning the flywheel by "hand" with the key<br />on and i had spark at two places on the flywheel rotation (a-b mark and 180 degrees) should'nt there be four sparks per revolution?

Hopefully you are working with a manual.<br /> It has a capacitor discharge ignition triggered by 2 sets of points in the distributor and uses a cap and rotor there are certain steps to prevent damage when trouble shooting.<br /> Be sure all connections are clean and tight.<br /> And follow procedures in the manual.Point<br />setting is .010.

i have a clymers manual that covers a lot of different motors somestimes it gets confusing and<br />sometimes the manual is a little vague on some things. i'm a first time boat owner. i recently <br />bought this 69 glassmaster with the 85 hp evinrude<br />for $200. i'm trying to learn all i can about the<br />motor while trying to get it on the water.

clean all ground conections replace questionable wires.disconect harness jump start it from solinoid to starter take all plugs out put them in the wires lay them on the block jump start it watch them spark !
