I went to local omc dealer for points, and was told they are no longer made. My manual says that filing them is only a temp fix. Is finding used points in decent condition my only option?<br />Thank you!

If you can't find new ones, try having them SILVER SOLDERED. I have used this technique on other points and it lasted a very long time ( I filed the silver solder smooth and round ).

find someone that works on high voltage cotactors (IE, 347 vac motor controlls). If that fails, try a jewler.

I read in an old post that you converted your amplifier pack to standard ignition, how'd that work for you?

As for the amp, I striped all the insulation off the wires and dug out enough of the amps insulation to seperate the wires, I then re-insulated the wires with "star-brite"liquid tape and added new connectors. I have yet to try it out. If it doesnt work, I will then convert to standard ignition. I was waiting to see if it was sucessful before I posted about it. I still have to install new impeller and I should be ready for a test.
