1969 evenrude wont start

engine doesnt fire untill i let off the ignition key then it trys to start but it wont becuase its in gear

You need to give us more info, 'Rude. <br /><br />Do you have Electric shift? <br /><br />It is staying in gear? <br /><br />It fires when you let OFF on the start key?<br /><br />Let us know.

There was several models that year (too). The Triumph (found in your first post) is a 1969 55HP three cylinder, three carbs CD ignition engine.<br /><br />Please confirm this before we all start running in the wrong direction.
