Hello all I’m back again with a new project. I had this evinrude given to me I’m told it ran with the current setup but lost spark and that was it. It has a msd street fire cdi on it instead of the own pulse box. Beings the pulse box is unavailable or 500+$ I can see why it was pulled if it had failed previously. The msd has both ignition options for wiring a two wire that’s used on this setup currently and a single wire for other types. Looking at the msd website for it they are using the correct wires to stator under the flywheel for this type of engine however I don’t know if there possibly backwards. Any one seen this setup used before? Since people often fib I’m not sure if the msd ever got spark to a plug or not. Also the msd has looped wires to cut for 8 6 or 4 currently all are not cut setting it to 8 cylinders. Msd offered no help on the support of this. I don’t know if I can use it should use it do I cut the loops for a 4cyl?
Thanks in advance.

Side note the safety circuit is on the engine but not wired into the dist block I asked why and was told the msd handles any ignition issues and has fail safes nullifying the need

No body has any input to offer??? I ordered a new stator and new coil when I jump the purple and green wires off the msd I get a weak spark at cyl 1 according to the msd diagnostic sheet it should be a crisp blue spark so that points to a weak coil maybe?
