I just recieved this engine as a gift. So far I have found that I cannot crank the engine from the key. The engine does turnover well if I jump the solnoid. I also have discovered that I have no spark. Does anyone have any input on this or know where I can get a wiring diagram prior to recieving my diagnostic manual in the mail.

Thank in advance
D.C.

You'll have to get the mtr to turn over with the key as this mtr has a battery powered ignition system. On a mtr that age you can run into anything in the wiring.

If you don't have a kill switch , the ignition switch could be bad. Look in the sticky at the top of the forum to see if there is a wiring diagram. On my '69 I found that the insulation on the two wires that go from the power pack up along the timing arm and under the flywheel to the sensor had broken at the tie down on the timing arm. This caused the sensor signal to short thus not triggering the power pack, and no spark.
