hi, today I bought a 25hp. evinrude model 25903b from an marine repair shop, we ran it in his test tank and it ran fine. He said he relplaced the water pump and rebuilt the carb and replaced the coils and points. ok I get it home and it won"t run in gear at more than half throttle, is this the high speed jet plugged? I thought it was way to rich at low speed so I leaned out the low speed needle. will that effect the high speed? it runs good at half and idles down good.

Start basic with fuel lines and tank vents. Check for good connections and clear lines, screens, and filters! Then I would begin to suspect the carbs....good luck!

Might be running on one cylinder.

thanks for the replys, but that doesn"t answer the carb question, it"s firing on both cyl.

It doesn't hurt to look at the jets, could have a small bit of junk in them. Blast it out with compressed air! Don't use metal it may damage the jets!

And replace the fuel line from pump to carb while you're in there (no screen after pump). Original fuel line can get deteriorated by ethanol-blended fuel, and slough off to gum up your carb.

I took out the jet plug and shot some cleaner in there, it is better and will run at high speed if I richen the low speed, but I think I"m going to have to pull the carb and clean it properly, that should do it, I hope.

Sir, you just bought that motor from a marine shop and a mechanic worked on it. Bring it back Asap and have them make good on their sale. Don't jack with the motor or it might void any warranty.

pulled the carb, looked clean, was rebuilt, took out the high speed jet and made sure it is clean. what I found is the gas line from the fuel pump to the carb. looked like vacuum hose, it was all spongy and the inside diameter was very small. I relpaced it with new fuel line. I haven"t had a chance to test it yet. I hope that does it.
