Does anyone know how to adjust the motor trim on these boats it has a 165 hp buick with a merc. outdrive. the outdrive tilt works fine but is not used to trim the boat. i think it has bolts under the front of the motor to adjust the trim but i don't want to do any thing to mess up the mounts.

The engine and the drive are both OMC, not Mercruiser. I will move this over to the OMC forum.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... Nothin' Merc about yer drive,... She's pure OMC...

You don't have the trimable motor mounts, they used little hyd. rams...

Yer's are set it, 'n that's It....

That sure is a cute little tug all of 16' maybe? with v-6 power I would expect that hull to get up easily reguardless of trim, are you sure it's fireing on all 6?

Very cool boat, Paul. Welcome aboard.

I think you actually have a Buick 225 on a OMC 155 (though yours does say 165). The 165 was an inline Chevy 6 250 ... I gots one.

Your Stringer is probably mounted already trimmed. The Select Trim option would have this kind of rig on the front...

There would be a motor on the front of the mount on the port (passenger) side.

I just took a foil off of mine. I've noticed no difference without the foil ... and I do have SelecTrim. I've got some more tinkering to do with mine, but the trim isn't even really having a major effect on performance.

Thanks L.C. Southkogs, she has been a labor of love to get her back in the water... The wiring was very bad and someone had mounted a pusherfoot on her stern and cracked it so lots glass work also I think mine came with the inline 6 and at some point the 255 v6 was put in. when i got her she came with 2 props one power and one speed but i don't know how to tell them apart.

That's what it is with older boats. Those old Johnson/Evinrude boats are just neat though. When done, it'll give you something unique and fun.

Props have numbers on them to tell you pitch x size. I've got a couple of older props, and the numbers are nearly impossible to find on them. Look on the hub and see what is there.

Congrats! What kind of top end did you get out of it? Get some pictures posted of that thing out on the water, it's a neat boat.

I'm jealous ... we got rained out today :(. Maybe tomorrow after church.
