My uncle has a 1969 Evinrude Fastwin 18HP that he bought new in 1970 he had inside at his dads place In Massachusetts and he recently died.

He lives in Oklahoma He has a 14 ft Mirrocraft he wants to put it on to take in the lakes (he has the title to the boat) but he has no proof of ownership of the motor to register it.

Is this needed for the motor? laws have changed since 1970 is there a way to get this? he has some paperwork but no bill of sale and the last time he had this on a boat nothing was needed for the motor and he no longer has the boat that it was originally on

Thanks!

Better ask the authorities in Oklahoma. Every state is different. Here in Florida, if you have it, it's yours unless somebody can prove differently. So Oklahoma must have some way to import motors from FL.

sounds like you need to check with your own State authorities to get specifics. I always wondered if all this registration stuff is needed , the commercial value having dropped somewhat after 50 years

there must be lots of registered outboards R.I.P. and the files grows every year

Apparently there's a way. As already suggested, contact the local authorities to be sure.

https://www.ok.gov/tax/documents/Cha...0Motors_13.pdf

710:22-7-8. Used outboard motors entering from a non-titling and non-registering state

11(a) The following documentation is required to issue an original Oklahoma title to a used outboard motor entering from a state that does not title or register outboard motors:

(1) If new owner: A notarized bill of sale identifying the outboard motor by serial number.

(2) Completed Application for Certificate of Title for a Boat or Outboard Motor (OTC Form BM-26).

(b) Upon receipt of the above, the motor license agent shall contact the Oklahoma Tax Commission Motor Vehicle Division for review and title issuance approval.

imho… what a waste of total energy money manpower ...Notaries here don't lift a finger much unless you fork out 600$+ bills

Florida sounds good….. " you got it you own it" unless proven guilty

Don't go to a notary . Go to your bank or credit union and get something notarized for free. I've been doing that for years.
