Well here we go,I got 2 55hp evins, the one on my boat skiflite ran good up 2 half throttle then nothin more after that,I check plugs, wires (good)noticed a lot of bad wires so I installed all new, even ground wires and conn, still the same,I even pulled flywheel & rewired all of it and gapped to .010,still the same,I also adjusted all carbs while someone was driving it,still Notta, went out taday and its getting worse,I can pretty much shut the air screws off and get the same affect, yes carbs are all clean, and gaskets seemed good so I doubt it is sucking air,I'm runnin out of ideas and need ur help before it gets scrapped, lol jk,I'm no dummy on these 2strokes and have a lot of knowledge on then but this has me stumped,it only has 1 coil so it can't be it,cause when they go out then there out for good,I switched cdi and that didn't help,,only thing I can think of now is the reeds are weak or worse, and could be blowing instead of sucking any ideas fellas

I failed to mention that I have a leaky tank connector on my tank,I doubt it is that cause it is not a pressure system,it only leaks when I pump the bulb

I'am thinking you mean 1969 instead of 1959. You carbs only have low speed adjustments, the high speed is fixed. With some one running the boat, squirt some fuel mixture into the carbs and see if it picks up. You can also use a inductive timing light to check the spark on each cylinder while under load and make sure your ign system is OK.

If it leaks when you squeeze the primer bulb, it could suck air with the engine running.

thanks for the yr correction sorry,,,i dont think spuirting fuel in it will help cause i tried choking it some and it got worse,,,if its electrical then it may be the amplifier box which is high dollar and they dont last very long as it is,,i have 2 of these motors a 68 and 69 but the 68 has a 4 wire amplifier and the 69 has 3,,,the only difference i notice is theres an extra wire going to the coil and is pre-installed from factory,so if i change that then i would have to swap coil to,its not to hard of a job

It's easier to check spark with a timing light than to start swapping parts around.

I am interested in some of the parts. I have a 1969 55hp evinrude as well that is pretty old. I could use some of those parts like the wires and stuff. btw. where did you get some of those wires?
