I have noticed that the lower oil is milky on my 1969 Evinrude outdrive. I have replaced the two oil plug gaskets already. What else do I need to do to stop the water from getting in? Is there a seal behind the prop that needs to be replaced? If so can someone point me in the right direction to find what I need please? This thing is almost impossible to find parts for!

Thanks,
Damian

I thought there was no shift linkage on this year motor? It's electronic and controlled by wires on this unit. Anyone have a link to what seals I need to purchase please?

Thanks for your help on the seal kit. I looked a few places but wasn't sure what I was looking for. On the statement about nearly every OEM part, I was on another thread that a guy said this motor as long as it's in good running condition then your fine but good luck getting any of the parts to fix it. Glad you're telling me differently!

A model number will be a huge help in giving you proper advise.

I have the same motor, there are two seals in the bearing carrier in front of the prop, there are two seals on the driveshaft under the waterpump, and the seals on the fill plugs. I haven't any serious trouble getting parts for mine. Also make sure you use the type c lube in it.

Before you do anything to it, take it to a dlr and have it pressure and vacuumed checked. Takes the guess work out of the job.
