1969 johnson 55hp overheating warning???

Does my 1969 johnson have a overheating warning horn, or warning of any sort, plus were is it on the engine and how can i test it works, thanks

If my memory serves, there isn't a warning horn but there is a red light on the dashboard and keyswitch panel

ok, thanks, but i dont think there is any lights on the dash of my boat, its a old date line binkini, thats worrying

That motor has a temp sender unit and the original wiring should have connections at the front of the boat for an indicator lamp.

My 1970 60HP has the Red light on the control box on top in front of the throttle. To check it, short the temp sensor lead to ground with the ignition "ON" and the Red light should illuminate.
