1969 Merc 1500 is it or not?

I bought a Mercury 1500,with a title from the state of Missouri,Stating 1969 Mercury_150 HP serial number 3918551,on power head and front. it has power trim.. I have been told it can not be a 150 hp from 1969,they did not make them.... I,m lost again...

150 was from 1973 to 78 but your serial number falls into the 1974 range....
