hi. i just became the proud(?)owner of a 69 starcraft arrow.nice looking little boat, but has some hull issues.i would like to attempt to fix it up with my 14 year old son.got a little mechanical and carpentry experiance,so have a little bit of an idea of what i am doing.starting question is how do i open up the floor, and what will i find?def needs to be done,as after drilling a couple exploratory holes,i can feel rotted wood under the floor.original thought was to cut along sides with a skillsaw, and then sawzall across the front and back.will the piece i cut out come out as a whole or be destroyed while taking it up?loking thru he forums i saw refrences to lifting the "cap"is that the whole top of the boat, and is it ness to take it off?and if so,does that mean removing the trim that encircles the baot so it will lift off?assume i would have to remove motor and all then.any info is appreciated.thanks mick

Re: 1969 starcraft arrow.

First I would do some searches here in this web site for others who have gone before you. You will likely find something similar as to what I found with my 1965 Starcraft Bahama. There is a stringer system under the floor covered in fiberglass. Mine stringers are literally mush and the fiberglass is broken.

On a side note, I bought the Bahama but was looking for an Arrow when I bought it. I had one in high school. Nice little boat, you will enjoy it when it is done.
