1970 60hp model 6002D points system Converted to 1977 70hp timer base & sensor system

need help ......i changed everything on my 60hp to 70hp includeing flywheel,few modifications , getting heaps of spark, the TDC pointer does not bolt onto the 60hp top half of the crankcase like the 70hp, however ,will modify that problem, once haveing done so , i need help with setting the timing for 1977 70hp model no 70773S , from scratch, and not sure which is the no 1 piston , the one near the flywheel ,or the bottom one. both evinrude motors

evinrude 60hp 1970 i have fitted 1977 70hp evinrude timer base & sensor to the 60hp ,

The #1 cylinder is the one at the top, near the flywheel.

yes , once ive got it to start ,then iam going to strip it down again for painting, then i will take pictures as i go along asembling, ,it was something to puzzel out, as the cranksharft are differnt hights,please be paitent ,thanks m8t

I would think the fly wheel would be balanced for a 70hp and not a 60 hp I could be wrong. Let us know how everything works out for you.

hi, iam useing the 70hp flywheel on the 60hp the reson being is that the 60hp hp flywheel does not accomodate the 70hp coil ,it has ridge in the inside diamature, the only major problem, is that the cranksharfts have a 10mm differance ,ive solved that ,problem by makeing the adjustment s on the sensor base & timer base , no worry m8t the fly wheels are perfictly balanced ,thanks for viewing , iam have good progress , been to the liabuary ,have all the info i need , will keep u informed ,k cheers
