Look for a good box on Ebay ...make sure they have popped it open and the switch wires aint junk too, like yours are, even though I can't see, I bet they are. The switch re wire would be a nightmare to resolder. Less room in the back of a ladies watch. If the wires off the switch are not crumbling insulation, fix up what ya can by butt splicing with waterproof connectors. Tape it up, good nuff. On the batt cables, you have 2 options.
One, just cut the damn things off. Get new 8 guage cable (Autozone), and if you go into the motor, just run new cables from/to the same spot where the old cables went to.
Now, either run them out the shift/throttle cable boot, or drill a hole in the lower pan and let them out to the battery.
OR, you can splice new cables into the harness. Home Depot has electrical connecter lugs that work. I just did it on mine. seperated them with a piece of 1/8 think rubber (after a good tape job), and then wrap it all up. I'll post now, and then post some pix in a minute.

Oh yeah, a heads up on cables. West Marine has 4 footers for a OUTRAGEOUS price of $35 to $45 dollars. Don't know what planet the sell too, but Autozone has 8 footers with ends for $6

FYI:
If your control harness looks that bad then there's no telling what the engine harness looks like. If you're going to repair this harness then I would recommend that you take the cowling and covers off your engine and thoroughly check your engine harness. Look for cracks and splits on the insulation and repair as needed. While you are there, disconnect the leads to the starter and solenoid, clean them up real good and reconnect them.
