So I discovered this boat:

1970 17foot Bayliner

Don't hijack my buy to those random buyers out there, but I would like to ask the pros here and long time no see by the way, but in my past I had a couple boats, as always things come up and you sell them and next thing you know you regret it and want to get another. So here I am. I found this ad which is local to me, and wanted to know if anyone has any idea about this particular model boat/engine type and whether or not this seems like a fair deal if all checks out.

I have made arrangements to see the boat tomorrow in person at the Marina so I will be taking it out on a Sea Trial. With that being said what are some things I need to be looking for on a Mercruiser? Especially one of this age? Mind you Owner states a lot of work has been done and he can provide receipts to it all. Also, interior he has spoken about and said seats will need to reupholstered but overall other then some minor cosmetics and money, I couldn't resist. He is a older gentleman beyond his age of toys now, and due to medical reasons, he has to sell it. I spoke with him about 5 times today and he likes to talk seems like a really nice guy. I hope at least!

Pros will you chime in on this one and just give me any information I need to be warn of, and whether or not the boat is not worth it and walk away? Suppose anything can be worth it, depending on how much $ you willing to invest.

Thanks!

Well thanks anyhow people, not sure why not one person chimed in! Maybe its not worth it lol, well too late I Sea Trial the boat today and everything checked out as is. Runs great and we were on the Pacific hitting 2-3 feet swells and the boat handled just fine. Was a little windy and scary but overall great run! For everything I got with boat including the boat at a sweet price lower then what he was asking I don't think it was a bad deal overall. Well maybe in the near future I will post some pictures as I rebuild the interior as that is the only thing wrong with it, just needs a complete reupholster inside. Other than that everything was great, even came with Garmin GPS, Radio, and so much more fishing gear, poles, net, livewell outside boat with water hose, etc. So much can't even list everything. Thanks again though everyone and feel free to post your comments if you feel the need.

As long as the floors are not soft or an obvious deck-over or re-deck it should do you well, but the interior from the pics looks like it's just well worn from use and not deteriorated from sitting uncovered so that's usually a good sign the boat is well cared for, especially on a boat that old
