so here is problems. I purchased the boat with motor cheap, guy said it needed a power pack.
installed a new sierra power pack and last year started it up. it ran good (bad fuel) and i did not have steering set up yet so we shut it off and i worked on steering....... well a year past now.
the motor is a 1970 model number 15083D. this year I corrected the steering problems and cleaned up some other things and went to start it. it cranked and cranked. I just installed new BUHW NGK plugs (those ones with no electrode) no start, but I do have good spark. have primed fuel system and such. removed NGK plugs and installed old champions and it started, it will run for about 3 sec then missfire and stall out. it will keep doing this no matter what I try.
so I am thinking old gas (same as last year) and the carbs had gas in them for a year straight so I would like to inspect and go through the carbs. but I am unable to locate a carb kit for the 1970????? sierra marine only lists a kit that says 1969, and newer years. not the 1970 model. its a type IV A carb. adjustable slow speed needles and fixed high speed orafice.
anyone know if the 1969 kit will work????
oh yeah compression is around 105 and similar on all 4 cyl.
what is the propper plug to use on this motor.
thanks
