I am trying to do a compression check on my 115 hp model 115083D 1970 evinrude. How and where do I bypass the safety switch to do a full throttle cranking with all the plugs pulled?

Ground out the spark plug wires and have somebody turn the key for you. Or else get a remote jumper button and hook it to the battery side of the solenoid and the other to the small S terminal on the solenoid.

Thanks boobie,

That did the trick. All 4 cylinders came in at 90psi. The book calls for 100 psi or better but just bought the compression tester this morning at harbor freight. I suspect the guage is off by 10 psi. Tried it on my merc kicker and it also showed 10 psi lower than book specifys.

Thanks again
