Hi, don't have my FSM yet but I bought a 1970 85hp Evinrude and it comped out at 130is on all four. Starts and runs nice but I was wondering if it's a bit low? I have a 55hp that is over 150lbs and a 40 that is at 115lbs. Runs pretty nice but just consider whether to maybe hone an ring before one hangs up and costs me a scored head.
Thanks in advance.

As long as it runs good for the age of the motor I'd leave it. Maybe run some OMC Engine Tuner through it.

Agreed, it is good 130 & equal. Some engine cleaner won't hurt and might even be good for it as preventative maintenance.

On that subject, we had many water pump failures when those motors were only two or three years old, resulting in catastrophic engine damage. I suggest you inspect the water pump, and if it still has the original aluminum pump housing, replace the entire pump with the kit which includes a plastic housing with stainless steel liners. But if it has already been changed, all you need is a new impeller.

thanks all! Well it got cold out here so I can't run it in the bucket so i'll drop the impeller like you said over the winter.
