1970 Evinrude Gearcase Removal

Hi, Im trying to remove the keel section of my outboard to expose the gears and inspect them. There are 6 screws to remove (3 on each side in the picture). However, even after removing the screws, I cant seem to remove the bottom section. Is there something that I missed? I dont have any experience removing this part, but looks to be straight forward.

Thank you. When i refreshed the page after submitting, and searched for my thread, it didnt appear which encouraged me to believe the original did not submit. Sorry for the confusion.
