1970 evinrude pulse pack question

hi, im wondering if anyone can tell me if there is a difference in pulse packs, my motor is a 1970 115 v4, i found a pulse pack for a 65 tripple????? at least i think thats what he said it was, im wondering if the pulse packs are the same or different, i would think that they would be different but i dont know much about these old motors so i figured id ask someone that does, thanks for any help

The answer is yes and no. First, there are two broad types of CD ignition. Battery CD (yours) and Mag CD. Within the battery CD catagory are two sub-kinds. with breaker points (Motorola Amplifier) and breakerless (Prestolite Pulse Pack). From there, different years are similar, but may have different wire colors and/or connectors.

I think you are going to find out that the 3-cyl 65 has Mag CD, a totally different setup from the get-go.

EDIT: I just checked and your 115 has breakerless battery CD with Prestolite pulse pack.

EDIT EDIT: And the first 3-cylinder 65hp (and newer) has Mag CD.
