Have a 1970 Johnson and need a motor cover (or at minimum the gasket). Current cover has been smashed and gasket is cracked and half missing. Could repair, but would rather replace.

Will a 4hp or 9.9hp cover from the late 60's/early 70's fit the '70 6hp? Were they all the same size?

I have found several 4 and 9.9's on eBay right now, but no reasonably (<$50) 6hp covers.

Thanks!

The Johnson 6hp cowling is unique to the Johnson 6 horse models, at least until the late 1970s when Evinrude adopted the same cowling shape where it meets the belly pan...

With one exception ? I think the direct drive 5hp Johnsons from 1965 up use a similar cowling, but they are rare...
