Hello, I am new to boat restoration but not boating. I started restoring my 17 foot sportcraft after owning it for the last 12 years. I have split the top and removed the floor boards. The stringers and transom were gone. I removed all the stringers, tra, nsom fiberglass, and old resin. Starting out with a clean hull. Have the new transom and new stringers cut and ready to go in. Just waiting for the weather to warm up a little.

My question is why would you use pl to bed the stringers and not bed them in thickened epoxy resin?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I will post some pic's tomorrow.

Thanks.

You CAN use either. PL gives you MORE working time but then it takes longer to cure. (48hrs before you can glass em in. Tab em first) It DOES pretty much ensure no Hard Spots in the Hull between the Stringers and the hull. What ever you decide will be fine.

Thanks for the info. Hoping to start installing this week end if the weather holds out.
