This is,I think, a 1970 Starcraft Falcon. Starcraft hasn't answered my e-mails concerning the year. It was given to me by my In-Laws with a 1970 Evinrude Ski-Twin 33.The engine is in numerous pieces, and I plan on getting it back together for next spring. i have some questions. I've looked online at the brochures, but I've never seen a Falcon in Tan. It doesn't look like it's been painted, but I'd like to know if this was the original color.
Also, did it come with the Cover over the driver's seat, or was this added later.
Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Brohood of the Tin. Looks more mid-70's to me. reason I say this is the sticker on the side instead of the plastic Starcraft logo.

Not repainted eh?

I don't think it's been repainted, but I haven't seen piictures of a Falcon in anything other than red or blue.

And the Starmada just keeps growing. Welcome John. You have a nice winter project and the bones look nice and solid. The top could have been a dealer added accessory/option or added anytime during the 41 years since birth. Is the Evinrude in bad shape?

Re: 1970 Starcraft Falcon

I don't know much about boat motors, but the inside is clean, and it's not seized. It's in a bunch of pieces. It was supposed to be rebuilt for me, but it was never finished. I really want it on the boat, as it fits the year of the hull. I like to keep things stock. I think I'm missing a shifter rod, and the water pump parts look like they need to be replaced.
I'm going to have to have someone look at it, to see if it's worth saving.

Thanks for the welcome!

Another welcome! Great looking SC. I agree with your desire to keep it "stock." Keep us posted of project.

Re: 1970 Starcraft Falcon

Well, I contacted Starcraft today, with little to show for it. I'm trying to get the year my boat was built, and the original color. Their 800 number connected me to the nearest dealer. They said they could contact Starcraft with my question, but I cannot, as I'm not a dealer. I e-mailed them, with no answer. Oh well.
Anybody have any contacts at Starcraft?

John--

have you tried comparing it to the brochures here and on Fiberglassics? this will likely be more profitable than trying to contact SC about a 40+ yr old boat.

nice boat, BTW!

Older SCs are not that high on their priority. And you do have to go through a dealer. Your best bet is to listen to the folks here and compare yours to the brochure posting. Looks like the info for your boat is at the throttle. As I recall the year is not specifically denoted but some think a date might be hidden in the serial number if it has one. Regarding color yours looks to me to be original. I have seen the hull striping before and the seats look original. More well informed historians might give you more info.

Yah, trying to contact Starcraft is a rather frustrating deal.

I've got a Falcon that was my parents and was originally purchased by my uncle new when he had the marina. It was baby blue with a 33 hp Johnson. The bill of sale my dad got said 1968.The original motor is long gone, but I'll never part with the boat.Too many memories of living at the marina and of a cottage that is no longer in the family.

I didn't see Bananaboater posted the same link I did, sorry for the redundency.

I think this is a Sprint-V, what size is the Sprint? Why do you think it's a Falcon?

Well, I know it's a Falcon. It says so on the tag.
I have to take back a lot of what I said about Starcraft. I received this e-mail from the dealer in Delaware this morning.

John ? this is all they can tell me. Also that it?s possible the brown could be original, but they don?t have color charts.

Subject: RE: information on vintage boat

Hi Bonnie

The boat was made between 1969 and 1972. During those years the government did not require a year identifier in the HIN number. Form past experience with these numbers it is most likely a 1971.

Thanks for all the help, guys. I'm going to assume the colors and seats are orriginal. Now to decide whether to restore it this winter, or just clean it up and run it for a year before I strip it. The floor's in good shape, with no soft spots, but the hull has several dings and scratches that are kind of bothering me. I'm leaning towards the restoration.

Those Islanders sure do like nice.(Does this mean I have a problem already?)

Just checked the pictures again. The seat colors in the Sprint, and hull markings look like mine, but the seats have the step over, not the walk through like the Sprint. I guess you could mix them up if you ordered it new.

Problem, heck no. You've got what's commonly called MBS (multiple boat syndrome), maybe twofootitus or fourfootitus. Probably suffer from Craigslist disorder too.

No matter what anyone tells you the cure is far worse than the disease. Here's what you do; buy a Starcraft, run up a couple of thousand posts in the SC forum on Iboats, always be looking for your next project, work on a Starcraft boat. You'll be fine, we'll be here for you.
