Hi everyone, I'm really thinking about picking up an older 65 hp Me . The guy is asking 150 for it with controls. All I know is it's got "good" compression but no spark. I know these motors have an odd distributor type ignition. I'm just curious how expensive this ignition system can be to repair(myself)? Also are these motors any good in general? I've read they struggle trolling at low speeds and dont hold up if trolled. I've also heard good things. I'm just curious to know if it's a motor worth fixing up. Plan to use it to upgrade power by 30 hp. Any input would be much appreciated as I decide whether or not to try and revive this outboard. Thanks!

Not worth it as if trigger bad..easy $400 just to get spark then another $125 to replace rotten wiring harness, etc. Good deal if you need a parts motor as that all it is....
