If any of you guys see one of these laying around a yard somewhere near Philadephia (200 miles) please let me know. I'm specifically looking for the Nova 250 Offshore. This model was made with higher gunwales and was made from 1975-1977. Boat has to have twin MerCruiser set up. I check ebay every day but this type of Nova has been elusive. Thanks

Are you talking about the one that had the "first" eggcrate fiberglass stringer system?

They had a standard stringer system as far as I know. I have never seen a 1970s Wellcraft rotted out so I assume they were encapsulated properly. These boats typically have ALOT of crazing on the cockpit sole. These old Novas have sentimental value to me. Plus I have a lot of old Merc hardware layin around.

Yep, it's nice today...clear, sunny, windy and temps in the 70s. It was a nice day for kayaking.

Wellcraft NOVAs had a fiberglass grid system...like an eggcrate. They evidently didn't get it right and more than one or two broke out their bottoms. One of my friends had one. It happened to his and I saw the busted hull. Wellcraft made good on it. They were built too light and couldn't handle 500hp like a Donzi. It's the only Wellcraft model I've ever heard of breaking like this.

Hello
I have 76 nova offshore with single 351 engine. Great strong boat here in Florida. I think it was one of the first ones made wiht single engine.

Re: 1970s Wellcraft Nova 250

Hi all! New here to the forums. I just picked up a 1977 Wellcraft nova 250. It has the twin 302 Mercruiser engines. From what I can tell it is mostly original except for the interior been redone. I'm working on finding out is the engines are usable or need rebuilt.

Pictures will be posted when I get to it. Maybe this weekend.
