1971 115hp shifting question

When adjusting my shift cable to free spinning nuetural I can shift easy to forward, nuetural and reverse but when I go to full forward the prop seems to go to another nuetural. is this normal? this is a new boat for me and have not had it in the water yet. Thanks in advance.

I had the same issue happen to me today... 650 merc 1976... shifts good but full throttle forwards it pops into neutral and the motor just revs

The correct way to adjust the gears is to disconnect the shift cable barrell nut from the holder, put the motor into neutral, by pushing on the shift slide. It should click into and stay in neutral. Now with the remote control in neutral, adjust the shift cable barrell nut until the the barrell nut on the cable goes into the holder. If it pops out of gear after this adjustment, you need to see a mechanic, or try another LU.
