a customer dropped off his boat after successfully changing out the water pump impeller. the reverse locking (43308t1) cam fell out of place so there was nothing keeping the shift shaft centered, which broke out during assembly. Now, how does a person go about making this repair without pulling the power head and changing out the shift shaft coupling( 93960A1) or the entire upper shift shaft rod? sorry, but the part numbers are from the Boats.net site

The coupling is held to the shift rod with a pin. I do not know if one can push the pin out, in that tight place. The shift arm on the top of the shift rod is also held on with a pin. That might be easier to get out. You might (might) be able to pull the carbs and pull the shift arm up to get at the pin.

You would also need to see what parts are available.

Gota pull powerhead
I'm kind of noticing that. I pulled apart an 85hp for the shift rod parts I need that are suppose to interchange. I definitely couldn't do anything with the linkage rod until I pulled the power head off and out of the way
