Should be a GM 250 CI......
I'd think you would be more likely to find it in a pickup than a car......
What kind of carb is it?....

He's wanting a carb or carb kit, and using an automotive carb on a boat is a serious NO-NO.
A marine carb is designed to keep fuel in the carb should the needle valve stick open and flood over. That keeps gas out of your bilge where the fumes could be ignited by a spark from an automotive starter, or automotive alternator.

I just rebuilt the carb on my '71 mercruiser inline six. NAPA had the correct marine kit (in stock even ) for less than $20. I gave them the Rochester part number off the bowl of the carb (mine was 7040083) and they matched it to an Echlin kit. Had to by the paper element filter separately, and the kit didn't include a new power valve . Took about an hour and a half to reassemble and check/adjust float level, pump rod and choke butterfly, once everything was cleaned. The float was way off in both directions from a previous rebuild . Otherwise it was fairly easy. Good luck!
