1971 chrysler 120 hp

Hi all! the is a dumb ? but what is the button on my shifter console on the side of my shifter ? I know one of the buttons is a push one for the choke but this one I have no idea what it is .its a push pull button..its the dia of a nickel...........I am very new to boats LOL thanks Chuck:redface:

W/O a picture it's hard to say for certain, but on my 1969 70 hp there is a silver knob that pulls out so one can move the throttle lever up a little bit w/o going into gear for cold starts. From what you are describing that's my guess.
FYI, my choke is activated by pushing in on the key when cranking and when the engine catches one releases the inward pressure on the key. Anyway, you have my guess! Good luck...
