I'm trying to remove the intermediate cover from a 1971 Chrysler 120hp. I found the exterior bolts on the leg, the bolts under the power head cover, it looked like there are two bolts at the bottom of the intermediate cover hidden just below the pivot point. Hard to describe without a picture. I may be able to photo it and upload . Any help appreciated.

Re: 1971 Chrysler intermediate cover

If you mean the lower cowl pan, then there are a couple of bolts up front under the carbs and usually the starter solenoid bolts through to the midleg If not, then there will be one or two bolts hidden under the solenoid.

If you mean the rear shroud with six bolts holding it on, there are two roll pins at the bottom which usually corrode in. You need to spread the top a little, wedge in a prybar, move it down some then smack the top with a rubber mallet to lever out the pins. If badly corroded you may damage the bottom of the shroud.

Coat the roll pins and holes with anti-seize before reassembing it.

Thank you, it's the rear shroud and you described the problem completely. I was afraid to pry on it without knowing if there was hidden bolts. It is the roll pins you describe, I'll get a bigger hammer. Thanks again.
