1971 Evinrude 125hp Water Pump Issues

I replaced the impellar and housing. It is still not pumping water to the heads. I pulled the thermostat out to see if maybe that was the issue but is still not pumping water. Have I done something wrong? What can i do?

did you make sure the rotation was correct? it needs to go in a clockwise direction with the driveshaft. is this on muffs in the driveway or in the lake that it isn't getting water? this is what helped me do mine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fj1c4oYpHAw&feature=related

did you get the water tube on properly?.How about the key for impellar,did it move as you were putting on impellar?

I am going to watch the video on you tube and see if i made any mistakes....I was told it dont matter which way the impellar is. I use ear muffs on it...but i also read somewhere else that you should submerge it and ear muffs dont work....but i am double checking and get back to you.

Ok i just watched the video....Everything that I did looks correct the only thing that might be different is the direction of the impellar blades. Should i try submerging it? Should i take it apart and make sure the blades are the right direction or does that matter?

do try it submerged. i bet it helps.
