I recently aquired the above engine and a boat . I didnt get a manual and dont have anyone readily available to answer this question. How can I tell if the water pump is working ? Where exactly is the so called (pee hole ) Located on this engine, ( Please be specific ) . Is there one or 2 holes? The reason I'm asking is there are 2 holes on the rear of the engine below the powerhead , when I connect a hose clamp to it and run the engine . There doesn't seem to be any water coming out and I am concerned.

Thanks for your response in advance

ED

eddy,

There is no "telltale" on that vintage evinrude. The two holes you decribe are the exhaust relief ports. You should be getting a bit of spray from them.

You should be able to hold your hand on the top cylinder for a few seconds without getting burned.

If in doubt, change the impeller.
