Please forgive a newbie question or two. . .

A Friend of mine gave me a 1971 9.5 HP Evinrude (Model 9122R).

Ordered a carb kit, some new plugs etc. . .Cleaned the carb up pretty good, replaced the impeller, and got it running. It dies out when running at WOT, but i think i forgot to open the vent on the gas can. . . doah. Today, i ordered a new screen and gasket for the fuel pump, and some new fuel lines, and will try it out again this weekend.

However, i have a question about the high speed jet. . . I looked in the hole, and don't see anything. I also blew into the hole, and air passes through.

The Evinrude Service manual. . . well, it shows this pic. . .

However. . .
http://www.marineengine.com/parts/johnson-evinrude-parts.php?year=1971&hp=9.5&model=9122R&manufacturer=Evinrude&section=Carburetor

It doesn't show a high speed jet in the diagram, nor do they seem to sell one.

Am i reading this wrong?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You need a perfect fitting flat blade screw driver to remove it. Wrong screw driver and you can wreck the slot or the threads. I can't remember what fits it but someone may. Best of luck. Rick.

Thanks! The diagram and the pic of the item was confusing. I found an actual pic of the item on another site and now it makes perfect sense. Thank You Very Much!!!
