So I have just acquired a nicely running 1971 2 hp model 2r71a and have not been able to find out (even from brp) where to get shear pins and a metal prop like it has now.Any info would be appreciated and iboats don't list either.

Re: 1971 Johnson 2hp Propeller

Original propeller was part number 316557, no longer available, replaced by 329568, which also is no longer available, replaced by 0125990. Yes, 0125990 is plastic. Probably an advantage, because it won't seize on the shaft from electrolysis as the aluminum ones did.

Original drive pin was 316558 obsolete, replaced by 326032, also obsolete, replaced by 333513.

Any Evinrude dealer can get you the updated stuff.

JW props are totally different than the 2hp models. In fact, you would have to look pretty hard to find anything that is common to both.

There are several nice propellers on ebay for not many $$. Remember, these are left-handed propellers...they turn counter-clockwise to go forward.

I typed in "johnson evinrude 2 hp propeller" and found two. One is used and is $29 + $8 S&H, and one is new at $14.95 +$12.27 S&H. The new one is part number 125990 which reportedly fits 1969-1990 1.2, 1.5, and 2 hp motors.

If you type in "125990 propeller", there are 5 new ones, 2 metal and 3 plastic.
