Hello I have a 1971 Johnson 100hp
I resently went through the lower unit and replaced the clutchdog in it because when I bought the boat it was slipping in foward but not in reverse. After I tore it apart and seen that the clutchdog was the problem I replaced it.The foward gear showed a little wear so I built it back up and and used a die grinder to smooth it back out,and I made sure that the corners were good and square.Anyways to make a long story short I put it all back together went to the lake and it would engage good while idleing but throttled up it woulg grab and slip, grab and slip over and over.I was wondering if the spring that holds the clutchdog in foward gear might be weak. Any help would be great. Thanks Delbert
