Just picked this baby up for $495 on ebay. This will supplement my big boat when the waves on Lake Michigan are too high and we want a puddle jumper for the small inland lakes. Tubing and stuff.

Needs some work. Holes on bow look like they are from some windlass that he took off. I will need to either get another to cover it up or look to somehow fill the holes.

Seats are shot. Picked up two sets on ebay for $80 a piece, just got them today.

Dash faded. Thinking about an oak dash replacement.

Steering wheel is coming apart due to weathering. Probably just put a cover over it unless someone knows a place to get an original replacement. I am in NW Indiana

Windshield I just took off prior to this post. It looks like it cracked and he just patched it with another piece. Not good for admiral. I read about replacing with a piece from Lowes. Jan project.

Trailer is ok. Had a time registering it. Homemade no title. Probably need bearings replaced for piece of mind.

Engine - Feb project. Seller said it ran rough and didn't circulate water. Hopefully just an impellor and carb cleaning. 1969 55hp Johnson. Heavy son of a gun.

Carpet is that outdoor plastic stuff. Gotta go, other wise I will hear from all the girls that it is hard on their feet. Wife three Girls 8-13.

First one. Wish me luck. I will post as I go.

First day off next Thurs. Gonna take out seats, carpet and try buffing it up a little to bring back a little shiine.

Parents have a three car insulated garage. They just left for florida for the winter, so guess where my baby is?

Sound like you got a nice project to keep you busy and a good place to be busy in! (referring to the garage)
How is the floor/stringer/transom? If they are good you are SOOOO lucky. Nothing like grinding and laying-up fiberglass:D
About the motor, my bet is you have the right assumption. I have a 1965 and 1964 Evinrude 33 HP's and they run great. I don't think you can blow those old motors up!

Anxious to see how it goes!

Transom solid. Floor feels good, I will know more when I get the carpet off. I assumed that if the floor was good the stringer would be also. Am I wrong in that assumption?

Well-
If the transom and floor truly is dry/solid I wouldn't be too concerned about the stringers. Having said that however, I would reccomend taking some core samples- this consists of taking a very small drill bit and drilling into the transom and floor. If the shavings come out dry and light colored- you are good! If not....well I think you know what lies in your future:)
