1971 merc 80 hp

I'm new to outboards so here comes a dumb question... this is a 4 cylinder engine correct? It has 4 plugs. Is it 2 stroke or 4 stroke? is decarbing it safe or will that remove the oil from critical parts? Thanks all.

4 plugs = 4 cylinders<br />2 stroke engine...<br /><br />Decarbing is safe... The oil is mixed in with the fuel (most likely 50-1 ratio) so you won't have to worry about removing it...
