Hello all. I have determined that the engine in my new-to-me 1971 boat has a cracked block, and the stern drive will not engage in the forward direction. I was going to recycle the boat, but today, I found a complete 165 engine and stern drive on craigslist and hope to make one good setup from the two. I am pretty well versed in car engines, so unless the new engine block is cracked as well, there should be no problems there. Unfortunately, I know nothing of stern drives. They appear to be "a box of tricks". Any advice here?
And is there a pdf manual available? If not, what is a good one to find?
