1971 Mercury 650 steering replacement

Hi, I am new to the forum and this is my 1st post. I just purchased a 1966 Sea ray with a 1971 65Hp 4 cyl Mercury motor: I have removed the directional(rack&pinion)steering cable(it's frozen) and I unable to find a replacement . There isn't a number on the cable to identify it. Can anyone give me info where I can find a solution to this problem? Thank You.

The best bet would be to order a whole new helm and cable set up. They are pretty inexpensive and iboats sells them.

Just measure the cable to get the correct length.
