I'm in the process of restoring a 1971 Cobalt boat with an inboard 165hp inline 6. It needs a new prop. A guy locally has a 14.5, 19p prop (which I think is what I have currently) but it's off an Alpha One Gen 2. Does anyone know if that would work on my sterndrive? Also, would mine be an Alpha One Gen 1? Or what type of sterndrive was made in 1971? The stamp on my prop says 48, 78120 A40L 19P. Thanks for all the help so far!

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,.... Yer drive is most likely 1 of the many MC-1 drives,..... commonly called Pre-Alpha,.....

The props are all the same, but as BD mentions, some of the oldest antiques had a square shoulder, rather than the taperted shoulder that is current issue,.....
At worst, you'll need a different thrust hub to go with that prop,....
