I'm in the process of restoring our boat and I'm just looking for others that may have suggestions on what to do or where to find things for a lesser price. I will post pictures of the boat but mainly I need to get the motor running (it turns over but it won't start). I just bought a new battery last year and prior to that it's been sitting for several years and not been used or probably winterized. My son and I took the cushions out of the front area and cleaned them and cleaned up the front part, it's the back area that requires a lot of work! The squirrels got into the boat and ate out all the seat cushioning so I need to replace all the seats. I'm trying to save money so was thinking I can just cut new boards (old ones are all rotted out) and re-upholster them as the upholstery seems to be in pretty good shape...it's just going to be extremely time consuming. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I was told to post in this forum as well and I would get some help...thanks!

Re: 1971 Winner Biminin with Johnson GT100

well yes i think a restoration on this is a brilliant idea.
the boat is a nice classic shape, plenty of room for the size of boat and the engine will be brilliant on that once running.

first of all i would put a nice drop of oil down the bores to get it all moving nice and freely, then get a new set of plugs for it.
make sure you have only fresh juice for the engine obviosly with 50-1 oil mix.
then give it a try, the carbs might be bit sticky though so a clean out of them first would be a good idea.
also clean out the fuel pump and maybe get a new service kit for that, they aint too much money and well worth it.

then just fire it up, make sure its in a water butt if i was you to try and get some water pumping round the old girl.
once you have it running watch for the tell tale water as the impellor will probably be rotten and again needs to be
changed for sure.but once its running then you can do that, again not expensive and easy to do yourself.
the main thing is to make sure you have it spinning over fast enough,as these engines need plenty of spinning speed to
get them running.once it runs the smile on your face will be worth what the fuel pump kit costs ha ha

the seats will be easy if the main material is ok, if not then just get some material/vynil and do them yourself, do make
sure you use a rot proof thread when doing the seats.

will be a very nice boat when finnished, the winner boats have a classic look, and i love em
