I'm going through this sorting out the wiring.

Like many old boats the wiring is a nasty rats nest but it is a simple boat with few electrical items and not hard to sort.

But there is not a fuse on this boat. the Outdrive (Merc 90 Renault) hasn't a fuse or breaker anywhere that I can see, and none of the hull wiring is fused.

Is this normal for a boat of this vintage? What would people suggest?

Should the trim pump have a fuse or breaker?

The feed to the instruments/ignition?

The blower, bilge pump, etc?

Thanks.

Not having fuses or breakers is asking for damage, or worse yet fire. From what you describe, it might be better to rip it all out and start fresh.

Do you see little white buttons along side, above or below each switch. If so, those are circuit breakers. Very common on boats of any vintage. It is NOT common to see no fuses at all.
