I am looking to rebuild my 4hp.
Have been able to find everything I need except for the standard rings.
I would even go to an over sized piston and rings set but can't find either.
Does anyone have a parts source that would have rings?

Are you sure your rings are warn out to the point of replacement?.....on my old Tanaka 3 HP the rings tended to get stuck in their grooves with carbon....I would very carefully remove them, clean rings and grooves, re-install and motor would run like a champ....started using Ringfree in the gas and rings stayed free. If your piston is really warn and no replacement is available a machine shop may be able to knurl the skirt sufficient to help enlarge it....but I doubt it's warn that much...

Thanks I will give that a try.
FYI compression tested out at 50psi each cylinder
Cylinders are smooth and glazed looking.

Put rings in the cylinders ----Measure and post ring gaps as they are now.

Right now I am still using it.
Once its to cold to fish from a boat I will tear it down to see if the rings are stuck and measure the ring gap.
I am still hoping to find a new set of rings before I start tearing it apart.

No need to panic as yet.-------Rings rarely wear out to cause low compression.-----They are usually damaged from overheating and " forgot to mix oil " situations.----Inspect it before deciding on new parts.------evinrudeparts.ca----Does have a number of contacts for good used part too.
